Kurt Ferguson was working on a construction site when
an accident changed the course of his life; STARS Air
Ambulance was there when he needed it
Kurt Ferguson was building a wall at a construction
site when he realized that he required a
saw and an extra piece of board. As he was
walking back, he forgot about the staircase hole meant
to be built for this two-storey house and fell through to
the basement.
“When I was laying there, I was trying to move my one
arm, but it wouldn’t move,” said Ferguson. “I tried to call
for help but I didn’t have a voice at all.”
Ferguson had fallen onto to a piling in the basement,
and there was a piece of rebar that went through his armpit,
behind his left ear and shattered two of his vertebrae.
Ferguson’s sister, Denille Ferguson, received a call from
Ferguson’s boss about the incident and rushed to the construction
site.
“I got a phone call from Kurt’s boss and my heart went
into my throat – I was basically panicking but trying not to
and trying to retain the information,” said Denille. Upon
