Adam Batchelor
Business Development Manager, JT
Equipment Corp.
From the company:
“Adam spent 15 years as an iron worker but decided
a year ago that he wanted a change. He started at
JT Equipment Corp. as customer support and he
added immense value. He had no previous sales
background, but it came to him naturally. Since
starting, he added new customers and doubled our
attachment sales. Within eight months, he was
promoted to business development manager. He has
already added new product lines to our portfolio
and is laying the groundwork in our new serving
areas for success. Adam is a team player and always
has the best interest of the people and business in
mind. If he’s at the office, he's always willing to help
– whether it’s loading a trailer, picking up parts or
helping one of the techs with a job so he can learn
what they do.”
Bruce Martin
Project Manager, Border Paving Ltd.
From the company:
“Bruce was raised in the country just outside of
Wetaskiwin. After high school, he went to Australia
where he lived for six months. He went on a working
visa and he found a job in the road construction
business. After that experience, Bruce realized that he
wanted to have a career in the construction industry.
He began his career in Camrose with Border Paving
Ltd. in 2011 where his first position was a labourer
and the year after, he became a lead hand. In 2013,
Bruce was transferred to the Red Deer Branch where
he became a member of the Estimating and Project
Management Team. In the fall of 2013, he attended
SAIT in Calgary where he studied civil engineering
technology. During the school year, Bruce would
come into work on weekends and school holidays
in order to keep up to date with his projects and
any construction news. In the spring of 2015, Bruce
graduated from the program with honours. He is
now a full-time employee at Border Paving Ltd. and
is dedicated to his work (he works an average of
75 hours per week!) and is one of the first people
customers call when they have any questions or need
some guidance.”
Michael Ashworth
Project Manager, Ledcor Highways Ltd.
From the company:
“Michael is a rising star who joined the highway
maintenance industry with Ledcor in 2014 as project
coordinator. Over the last five years, Michael has
been providing technical support (i.e., specifications
compliance, cost control and quality control) and
coordination to our field operations groups. He has
built strong relationships with the clients, suppliers and
subcontractors we work with in our industry. Michael
is not only respected for his professionalism and
hard work, but also for his strong sense of humour.
Recently, Michael was promoted to the role of project
manager, responsible for one contract maintenance
area (CMA). He has a strong passion for the industry
and was instrumental in Ledcor re-securing our
current maintenance contracts. Michael graduated
from the University of Alberta with the Bachelor of
Science in Civil Engineering and is registered with the
Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists
of Alberta, as an engineer-in-training.”
Blake Menning
Vice President, All Choice Rentals
From the company:
“Blake is a relationship builder. In a time that rural Alberta
is facing one of the toughest economic downturns in its
history due to commodity prices, All Choice Rentals continues
to grow, mostly on the back of Blake’s hard work. His
dedication to our business was on display this past year as
All Choice Rentals won the Canadian Rental Association
(CRA)’s President’s Image Award and the CRA Alberta
Rental Company of the Year Award. In addition, Blake has
been recognized by CRA as the 2019 Canadian National
Rental Person of the Year, Rental Management’s 12 to watch
under 40 and, most notably, was a Prairie Finalist for the
2019 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Program. More than being
committed to our business, he is committed to strengthening
the rental industry as a whole. He currently sits as the vice
president of the CRA Alberta Local Board. He volunteers
countless hours to ensure that local tradeshows and golf tournaments
are a success, as well as commits his time to various
charitable causes around Drayton Valley. He is the face of All
Choice Rentals and a key reason why we have been able to
accomplish what we have.”
