Who is Joe Kabarchuk?
Joe Kabarchuk, P.Eng., civil engineer, has been working at Alberco Construction Ltd. for more than six years. The
company is a heavy civil bridge-building contracting firm with its primary focus on bridge construction and bridge
rehabilitation, as well as municipal works such as reservoirs, pump/lift stations.
“As one of the executive directors and senior project managers at Alberco, I get out in the field quite a bit, out in
the trenches managing the work. It’s through this work that I really appreciate leaving the City of Edmonton with
all the red tape and bureaucracy. Here I have direct control in getting the work done, and it’s very rewarding.”
The new chairman of ARHCA has been happily married for 25 years, lives in West Edmonton and is proud of his
two beautiful daughters who are attending university.
For the last year, he’s been working on a cabin project, building a lot of it himself.
“It’s my place to get away from work and focus on something very tangible,” said Kabarchuk. “I am enjoying
doing this and so far don’t hate the whole project. And now that it’s getting closer to being done, I think we’ll
keep up that good relationship.”
He makes no bones about how much he appreciates the people in the industry where everyone is trying to do
their best to get the work done.
“You find the genuine people when you’re working with them closely,” he said. “The majority are trustworthy
with good ethics and morals, and that’s probably why I love this industry. The people and companies we deal with
are all trying to make Alberta better.
“Seeing what we accomplish is probably the biggest motivator for a lot of our workers, our managers, for myself.
There is a strong sense of pride when you drive by something you’ve worked on.”
