has an ‘in’ and is seen as a sounding board, you won’t have
that exposure and ability to do it. There’s an advantage to
getting involved because you’ll have more connections.”
As Kabarchuk says, his company may be involved in
bridge-building, but through ARHCA, they are exposed to all
sorts of earth-moving companies, paving companies – businesses
they rely on to get a project done. This is networking
at its best.
“Through talking to others, learning how they navigated
through problems and challenges…that’s the good thing
about ARHCA. People are willing to help; you just need to
know who to ask.”
Within business itself, everyone is going through the same
challenges of equipment, resources, people and training.
Kabarchuk says that tougher regulations are coming in when
it comes to the environment and safety…he sees that ARHCA
has the ability to influence some of what’s coming down, be
involved in the jobs and round them out by approaching owners
and other institutions with one strong voice.
“The industry has been going through a tougher time over
the last few years, and we’re not through the woods yet.
These days, we have to change the way we’ve always done
business just to keep in business.”
Kabarchuk wants to encourage all ARHCA members to
become active on the board, and not only in order to influence
the industry’s direction. He believes strongly that by
giving back to the industry, the bigger picture and the road
to success into the future becomes clearer and more achievable
for everyone. n
