The Brandt Group
of Companies
is growing
with purpose
By Jim Timlick
Despite myriad changes that the
Alberta construction and roadbuilding
industries have undergone
over the past quarter century, one
of the constants during that time has
been the presence of the Brandt Group
of Companies.
Founded in Saskatchewan as Brandt
Electric by Abram Peter Brandt in 1932,
it has grown to become one of Canada’s
largest privately owned companies with
product and service offerings in construction,
forestry, agriculture, mining,
energy and many other sectors.
The company first established a foothold
in Wild Rose Country in 1995
when it acquired two John Deere
Construction and Forestry dealerships
in the southern portion of the province.
Today, the Brandt network of
dealerships employs more than 550
people across Alberta and extends to
every corner of the province. It delivers
everything from the latest in construction
and roadbuilding equipment and
state-of-the-art machine control and
geospatial technology to custom-manufactured
attachments, utility and heavy
haul trailers and custom truck rigging.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise
that Brandt is a long-time member
of Canada’s Best Managed Companies
and has been part of the national business
awards program’s select group of
Platinum Club members for 17 years.
“Maintaining Platinum-level status
for so many years really gives our
industry the assurance that the entire
Brandt organization operates at the very
highest level,” said Rod Bowes, Brandt’s
vice-president of sales – Forestry and
Road. “I think that’s a big advantage of
being part of the Canada’s Best Managed
Companies program.”
