Committee Updates
Want to know what each ARHCA committee has been up to?
Government Relations Committee
The ARHCA Board of Directors recognized that ARHCA
needed to ensure the province’s road infrastructure and
road construction industry were given more attention as
part of the public policy debate. As a result, ARHCA kick-started
its advocacy efforts by developing a campaign based
on policy recommendations developed by a panel of outside
experts. As a next phase in ARHCA’s advocacy and govern-ment
relations, the ARHCA decided to form the Government
Relations Committee to generate ideas for government rela-tions
and foster closer relationships with those who make
policy decisions.
Safety Committee
The purpose of the Safety Committee in 2020 is to review
four main pieces of legislation, including: WCB; OHS;
employment standards; and labour relations. This commit-tee
is also focused on supporting COR, and re-vamping and
upgrading RSTS, and has a silica sub-committee devoted to
silica reporting, online tool promotion and more.
Environment Committee
With environmental components included in most ten-ders
and a focus on reducing the environmental impacts
of our industry, this committee is focused on legislative
changes; plans for contractor concerns; and reclamation.
The Environment Committee also reviews and manages the
ARHCA Environment Awards.
Edmonton Region Committee
The Edmonton Region Committee acts as the interface
between the road building industry and the municipal clients
