business with expertise in reclamation, environmental, landscaping, civil
construction, and maintenance services, with specic expertise in
Alberta’s restoration ecology.
Vitae specializes in native plant material grown specically for a project’s
seed zone and provides wholesale native plant material in both plugs
and containerized forms for use on reclamation sites across Alberta.

in the greater Edmonton region. The committee works to fos-ter
and maintain good relationships with city officials for the
mutual benefit of delivering effective construction projects.
This is done through industry feedback, annual rate updates,
actioning concerns that may arise, specification reviews and
regular meetings to ensure projects are proceeding as best
they should.
Calgary Region Committee
The Calgary Region Committee is currently working with
the City of Calgary around the challenges associated with
COVID-19. Members are also building on efforts from last
year with the City of Calgary on identifying common topics
and areas of focus to work on during the season. This has
included but is not limited to specification updates, traffic
accommodation strategies and procurement processes.
Grading Committee
The Grading Committee generally focuses on locates issues,
how specification changes can affect contractors; crossing
agreements; and new technologies. Additionally, this group is
sometimes consulted on Rental Rate Guide creation regard-ing
grading equipment.
Paving and Road Materials Committee
This committee is currently working with Alberta
Transportation to provide input on the new Asphalt Mix
Design formula; air voids in mix design; and materials costs.
Rental Rates Guide Committee
This committee was struck solely for the development of the
Equipment Rental Rates Guide. Members of this commit-tee
provide feedback on proposed rate changes, equipment
type additions or major changes to the guide and provide
contractor perspectives on whether rates are reflective of the
market conditions.
Highway Maintenance Committee
This committee tackles issues related primarily to high-way
maintenance contracts and the tendering of Contract
Maintenance Area (CMA) renewals and RFP processes. This
committee has been especially busy managing issues related
to COVID-19 and essential services.
Highway Maintenance Safety Committee
Not to be confused with the Highway Maintenance
Committee, the members of the Highway Maintenance
Safety Committee focus on raising public awareness regard-ing
safety issues such as sharing the roads with snowplows
and maintenance crews. n
