I f I break my ankle because I missed a step and fell,
chances are you’ll know what to do. If I have an anxi-ety
attack or just don’t seem to be myself these days,
chances are you probably won’t.
While employers’ awareness and knowledge of mental
health issues have grown significantly over the past five years
with approximately 85 per cent1 of employers now having
policies in place to address workplace issues such as violence,
harassment, bullying and assault, there still appears to be
tangible knowledge gaps that could be closed with respectful
workplace training and application of the lessons learned to
move these concepts from theory into practice.
