in the traffic control industry, Jan said
that safety is always top of mind for
the company. He said the company is

its clients and business partners safe.
For five years, Barricades and Signs
has even employed its own dedicated
safety officer.
“Our safety officer has worked closely
within the areas of our business to
develop processes and systems to keep
our own employees safe, but then also
to ensure that our clients and business
partners are getting taken care of,”
Jan said.
Barricades and Signs has been a
member of the Alberta Roadbuilders
and Heavy Construction Association for
around 10 years. Jan said the value the
company gets out of this membership
is “unparalleled.”

become the traffic control professionals
that we are today,” Jan said. “We’ve
invested heavily in the opportunities
that the association has given its members
for networking and advertising, so
we’ve literally grown our business on
that platform. Right from the get-go, we
got involved in supporting the annual
general meetings in Banff. We recognized
that the other events, like the golf tournament
that they set up, were a fantastic
opportunity to rub shoulders with members
of the industry. We’ve also learned
a lot from the roadbuilders. Their values
align with ours in that we want to provide
value for our clients like they want
