The incoming chair of the ARHCA Board of Directors,
Jonathan Hamilton’s career in the construction industry
started in 1996. As a 16-year-old, he needed a summer
job and started placing and finishing concrete. By age 23,
Hamilton was making inroads at Tollestrup Construction, and
graduated with his degree in civil engineering and technology
from Lethbridge College in 2006. From that point on, his
career trajectory accelerated quickly, as Tollestrup ownership
took notice of Hamilton’s leadership abilities. Even in his
early days with the company, he ran multiple crews working
as a super, then project manager, then director and now

COO. Once he felt comfortable in his role on the executive
team, Hamilton set his sights on sharing his knowledge with
– and learning from – other industry leaders. That’s where
ARHCA came in.
“A member of our company was on the Safety Committee
at the ARHCA, and I heard through the grapevine that the
association was looking for board directors,” said Hamilton.
“Another representative wrote a letter of recommendation
on my behalf, and the rest is history.”
Now, as incoming chair, Hamilton is eager to delve
even deeper into association business, and to pick up
