minutes online and covers:

equipment

management planning
•• Legislation that all drivers should be aware of
•• Hazard awareness, fatigue/stress/impairment and
distracted driving strategies

Registration and access are easy as the course was created
to allow playback on most devices with an internet connec-tion
and web browser.
While all students who achieve a passing grade will
receive an awareness certificate, there is additional training
and evaluations they can complete to obtain a practical level
of certification.
“The course also provides posters, reading material and
a skills evaluation form that the employer can use as many
times as they would like,” said Sherman. “Upon completion
of the practical skills assessment, documentation is upload-ed
or emailed to the AMTA and that worker’s credential is
upgraded from ‘awareness’ to ‘practical.’ We’re also devel-oping
the resources to be able to do these evaluations from
within the AMTA. We want to be sure this course is available
to anyone who wants to take it.”
Throughout 2020, the association is working to collect all
the information it receives from student feedback, test results
and evaluations so that the course can receive one more
update before January 2021.
